The starting point
Every service on Peer1IX begins with a port: a physical interface on our fabric that your router connects to. What makes it powerful is how much can run over it.
Services on a single port
- Public peering on the exchange LAN.
- Private VLANs to individual partners.
- Virtual circuits to clouds and data centers.
- Connections to virtual routers and network functions.
Each service is separated by a VLAN tag, so they remain isolated while sharing the physical link.
Choosing a speed
Start with your peak traffic plus headroom. Many regional networks begin at 10G; content and carriers often use 100G. 400G is available at core locations on request.
Link aggregation
Bundle multiple ports with LACP for more capacity and resilience against a single optic or cable failure.
Growing
Monitor utilisation and plan upgrades before peaks approach capacity. Moving from 10G to 100G is a planned change with our team.
