Micro PoPs

Compact interconnection nodes inside tier-2 and tier-3 towns — so local traffic can turn around close to the last mile.

Micro Points of Presence bring exchange and cross-connect capability into smaller towns, letting local ISPs hand off and receive traffic without a long-haul trip to a metro.

What you get

Hyper-local footprint

Nodes located close to aggregation points of local access networks.

Exchange extension

Reach the Peer1IX fabric and its members from a Micro PoP port.

Cache hosting

Space and power for content caches serving the town’s users.

Fast activation

Standardised, compact deployments that go live quickly.

Remote hands

On-ground support for patching, reboots and simple swaps.

Monitored 24×7

Power, environment and network health watched by our NOC.

Bringing the exchange to the town

Large exchanges in big cities do not help a user whose ISP has no affordable path to reach them. Micro PoPs extend interconnection into the places where India’s next hundreds of millions of users are coming online, so traffic between a local ISP and a content network can stay in the town.

Designed for small footprints

Each Micro PoP follows a standard design for power, cooling, switching and security. That consistency lets us deploy quickly, operate remotely and maintain the same service quality across a very large number of sites.

Typical uses

  • Local cable and broadband operators
  • OTT and CDN cache placement in smaller towns
  • Regional enterprises and campuses
  • Municipal and smart-city networks

Questions we hear often

What is a Micro PoP?

A compact interconnection site with switching, power and a few racks or rack units, placed in a smaller town to bring peering and caching close to users.

How is a Micro PoP connected to the exchange?

Micro PoPs are linked back into the Peer1IX fabric, so a port at a Micro PoP can reach members and route servers just like a port at a larger exchange.

Can I host a cache at a Micro PoP?

Yes. Micro PoPs are designed to host content caches and small edge appliances alongside interconnection.
