Why clouds need to talk
A data pipeline in one cloud feeds a model in another. An application in one cloud uses a database service in a second. A merger brings two cloud estates together. In each case, traffic flows between platforms.
The default is the internet
Without a private path, cloud-to-cloud traffic leaves one provider over the internet and enters the other. It works, but performance varies and data crosses networks you do not control.
The hair-pin workaround
Some teams route cloud-to-cloud traffic through their own data center, where both clouds have private connections. That adds distance and makes the data center a bottleneck.
Direct through the fabric
With Peer1IX Cloud to Cloud, each cloud connects to the fabric through its private on-ramp. A virtual circuit links them, and a cloud router exchanges routes between the two environments.
Benefits
- Predictable latency and throughput.
- Traffic stays off the public internet.
- No dependency on your own data center for inter-cloud flows.
