Virtual Firewalls in Front of Cloud Connections

Virtual Firewalls in Front of Cloud Connections

Placing a virtual firewall where your private cloud connections meet gives you one inspection point for hybrid traffic.

The hybrid blind spot

Traditional perimeter firewalls protect the internet edge. Private connections to clouds and partners often bypass them, so traffic between environments may not be inspected at all.

Find the meeting point

If your clouds and sites connect through the Peer1IX fabric — for example via a Cloud Router — that meeting point is ideal for inspection.

Deploy a virtual firewall

Run your preferred firewall vendor’s virtual appliance on Peer1ix Virtual Edge and steer inter-environment traffic through it. Apply application-aware rules, intrusion prevention and logging.

Or use a managed service

If you prefer not to manage firewall software, Peer1ix FWaaS delivers firewalling as a service at the same point.

Keep rules consistent

Whichever option you choose, maintain one policy set for hybrid traffic rather than separate rules per cloud.
