Connecting Via a Reseller or Transport Partner

Connecting Via a Reseller or Transport Partner

You do not need equipment in the same building to use the fabric. How transport partners and resellers extend Peer1IX to networks elsewhere.

Reaching the fabric from elsewhere

If your network equipment is not in a Peer1IX facility, you can still connect. A transport circuit from your location to the facility carries your traffic to a Peer1IX port.

Reseller options

Some carriers and partners resell access to Peer1IX, delivering a port as part of their own connectivity service. This can be a simple way to start.

What to consider

  • Latency: traffic travels the transport distance before reaching the fabric.
  • Resilience: a single transport circuit is a single point of failure.
  • Cost: transport adds to the port cost.

Moving closer

As traffic grows, the case for placing equipment directly in a Peer1IX location — or at a nearby Micro PoP — strengthens.

Ask about transport options in your city.
