Planning Capacity for Cloud Security Interconnects

Interconnect capacity for cloud security services must handle normal traffic and attack scenarios. How to size it.

Start with normal traffic

Measure peak traffic that will pass through the security service and over the interconnect.

Think about incidents

During an attack, the provider filters malicious traffic, but legitimate traffic patterns may also change — for example, users retrying failed requests. Leave headroom.

Redundancy and failover

With two interconnects, each should ideally be able to carry the full load if the other fails.

Monitor

Track utilisation on each interconnect and review capacity quarterly.

Upgrade path

With Peer1IX, interconnect capacity can grow with your port and service configuration.
