IPsec for Partner and Vendor Access

Vendors and partners often need access to specific systems. A dedicated IPsec tunnel with strict policy keeps that access controlled.

The third-party risk

Many security incidents begin with a compromised vendor or partner. Broad network access for third parties increases exposure.

A dedicated tunnel per partner

Give each partner its own IPsec tunnel into a dedicated segment of your network on the Peer1IX fabric.

Least privilege

Allow access only to the specific systems and ports the partner needs. Enforce it at the hub with firewall policy.

Strong authentication

Use certificates or strong pre-shared keys, unique per partner.

Monitor and review

Log partner traffic and review access quarterly. Remove tunnels for finished engagements.

Consider alternatives

If the partner is also on Peer1IX, a Virtual Cross Connect may be simpler and faster.
